Today’s blog will help you work on your bedroom by adding significant Vastu Shastra tips. Sometimes, people end up disturbing the energy balance of a room for the sake of aesthetics. It is often seen that people unknowingly do this to their bedrooms as well.

Keep reading this post till the end to learn about some of the easiest and the most effective Vastu remedies that you can immediately apply to your current room. And the best thing is, you will also learn about a remedy which you can use if you cannot make any changes to your current bedroom due to space constraints.

The Best Direction for Bedroom

Directions to choose: Vastu says that bedrooms are best built in the southwest as it is associated with prosperity and good health to the owners. Even the north is considered lucky for everyone. Children’s bedrooms can be located in the east or northwest. It is said to give them a sharp intellect.

Directions to avoid: Southeast and Northeast. Also, avoid the centre of the house i.e., the “Brahmasthan.” This is the place through which energy flows continuously. That is not something that you would desire for a place meant for resting.

The Ideal Bed

Vastu says that a square or rectangular shaped wooden bed is considered the best. Wrought iron beds are very harmful to your health as they can interfere with the magnetic field of your body and can lead to serious health issues. Also, avoid using two single mattresses to fit into one double bed.

The Ideal Bed Placement

Your bed must be placed with its head towards the east or south. It is desirable to place your bed against the wall in the south or the west so that your legs point towards the north or the east when you lie down. Avoid sleeping with your legs pointing towards the south. Vastu is also against the placement of a bed in the corner as it restricts the free flow of energy. It must be placed along the central part of the wall. Ideally, you should be able to get down from both the left and right sides of the bed.

Placement of Mirror

Having a dressing table in the bedroom is common. Vastu emphasizes the fact that mirrors can amplify energy which results in restlessness and worry. So, make sure to place it in such a way that the bed is not reflected in it. If that arrangement is not possible, simply cover the mirror when not in use.

Colour of the bedroom

When it comes to bedrooms, it is best not to have too many distracting colours and patterns on a bedroom wall. Vastu recommends using light or pastel colours as they are soothing to the senses. Newly married couples can use a subtle hint of red. But, take care not to overuse it because it represents fire and can cause temperament issues.

Bonus Vastu Tips:

The usage of false ceilings may enhance the look of a room. But according to Vastu, you must be careful not to choose the one having pointed designs hanging from it. It causes bad sleep. Avoid skylight ceilings too.

If you have an attached bathroom, keep the door closed when not in use.

It is also advised for couples to not have pictures, paintings or artefacts of lonely animals or birds. Have things in pairs. Also, if you like paintings, keep the ones that represent love and togetherness.

Hope you made it to the end of this blog post. Before concluding, here is a simple Vastu remedy for you if it is not possible to make any changes to your current bedroom due to lack of space and other inconveniences. Simply place a bowl of sea salt or camphor crystals in your room. Sea salt and camphor absorb negative energy and are highly recommended as Vastu remedies. And needless to say, keep your space clean.

It is also essential to keep your house clean and sanitized regularly, especially with guests meeting and greeting in regular intervals during the festive season.

  • Keep lamps, diyas and candles away from combustible materials such as gasoline, books, plastics, electrical wires and more. With everyone also carrying and keeping sanitisers today, ensure they are not placed near the diyas and candles.
  • Avoid placing them at the doorways or less spacious corners and staircases. This will ensure a safe environment for your kids and pets who may end up burning themselves when running and playing.

2. Despite the ban, firecrackers are still one major part of Diwali celebrations, especially with kids and teens around. Here are what you can follow to avoid any unwanted situations:

  • When buying crackers, try to buy them in fewer numbers. This is help ensure limited usage.
  • Allow kids to burn crackers only under your supervision or of any adult. And if you have pets, keep them away from crackers and preferably inside during the cracker bursting time.
  • Store a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher in case of emergency or accident nearby.
  • Make sure your kids wash their hands properly with soap and water after burning crackers.
  • Throw burnt crackers in a proper place and burn them in an open space.

3. Even if you don’t want to burn loud crackers, it’s possible that your neighbours will. For the elderly, babies and pets, loud noise can be uncomfortable. So, these are what you can do:

  • Try to avoid going outside if you are allergic to smoke. Ensure all windows and doors are closed when your neighbours are bursting crackers to avoid harmful smoke.
  • Keep your elders, kids and pets inside with doors and windows closed to minimize the noise from the crackers.

4. Wearing new clothes is a significant part of the Diwali celebration. But choosing the right clothing becomes crucial:

  • Avoid synthetic clothes, especially when lighting diyas and burning crackers as it catches fire easily. Prefer wearing cotton clothes.

  • Try making homemade delicacies as nothing can be more hygienic and healthier than homemade foods.
  • Avoid consuming or bringing home street foods.
  • Ensure you and your kids wash your hands properly with soap and water before meals.
  • Keep your foods covered at all times when they are left unattended.

It’s not just about being cautious around diyas and firecrackers when it comes to safety. This is the time of the year where we share happiness and togetherness. And at Protech, we believe and ensure celebrating it keeping in mind the above tips to have a safe and momentous festive season.

The Rise in Single-Family Housing Demand

No one ever expected the world to change so much as it has since the end of 2019. And this change will continue to remain, for some time more, unfortunately. But we humans like to be known as the smart species and we definitely are, given we do our research and remain open to opportunities. We were quick to see and recognize what best can be done to adapt to these testing times. We changed the way we lived our lives before and started focusing on what’s better and practical.

Along with the usual human lives, every business was affected. This also includes the real estate industry. With the change in lifestyle and work from home culture, house buying and renting requirements in the different tiers almost got to NIL. However, there rose the need for a new living culture to which people began to adapt quickly and positively – Single homes.

The demand for single homes did not go down. Though the construction pace slowed down, the demand for single homes didn’t. At the same time, homeowners were reluctant to list their homes for sale during a pandemic, which reduced the for-sale supply. Those who maintained the value of their property did enjoy the fortune to sell them at good prices as well. Some of the factors included generous mortgage forbearance programs and the foreclosure moratorium also reduced supply.

Studies suggest that the housing market tightened primarily because of a surge in demand for single-family living. Also called linear family living, other major factors that contributed to this surge include:

  1. With income crunch, people have started to prefer living in single-family accommodations to meet their needs and that of their spouse, children and parent(s).
  2. With the need to spend more time at home instead of the office and other public spaces, people are looking for comfortable and sufficient spaces inside their own homes.
  3. With the importance to maintain distance as much as possible to survive the pandemic, people are willing to build the trust to share spaces only with their immediate family members.

It is known that the market will take time to cool down because of the relaxation of the many pandemic-caused supply-side constraints. New demand has exceeded leaving behind pre-pandemic levels of supply, and the gap is too large can’t be realistically filled by new construction in the short term. Surprisingly, the jump in the listings might be because of many homebuyers who were owner-occupants selling their current home when purchasing a new one as well. However, the new subsequent listing of these purchases has not seen an increase in second-home buying. Another contributing factor could be a case where homeowners attempt to buy their next home before putting their current home on the market, as they can be confident of finding a buyer quickly.

Lower interest rates or borrowing costs have also influenced the housing demand. With interest rates on the lower side, people feel confident to take on more debt because they can afford relatively more debt for the same monthly outlay. In another way, they will be able to take the decision of purchasing a home because at low-interest rates wherein the amount they will need to pay won’t be burdensome.

The Art of Vastu Shastra – Radiate Positivity in your Kitchen

The presence of positive energy in your home makes way for continuous good health and happiness around. It assists you in leading a positive life, which results in balancing and creating the required harmony for your betterment and of your family members. Like we mentioned in our previous blog, “No matter how much you invest in the latest and unique home décor pieces, wall paints or high-end technological equipment, radiating the right kind of energy plays an altogether different and important role.”

In our previous blog on the series – “The Art of Vastu Shastra – Radiate Positivity”, we learned how to maintain the Vastu of the living area of your home. Moving on, in this second blog of the series, we will give you ideas on how you can maintain the Vastu of your Kitchen area. Right from the positioning of certain elements in your kitchen to what should be included and what not to radiate positivity around, let us take a dive into the details.

Choosing the Best Locations

What and where you place and position in your kitchen directly results in maintaining the Vastu of the space. Let us help you understand how and why:

Cooking Hob

Choose the South East or North West corners of your kitchen to install your cooking hob. Whether you have an L-shaped layout or a U-shaped layout, you can choose the ideal positioning for the hob and use the rest for other activities and placement. This started earlier when hot winds blowing from South West to North East stopped the chances of the kitchen spaces catching fire.

Kitchen Sink

According to Vastu, the placement of the kitchen sink should be in the Northeast area. This concept or requirement as we can say started from the early days when water for cooking or washing utensils was stored in containers. It was believed that placing in the position helped kill germs with the sun’s rays and purify the water.

Drinking-Water

Ensure that you place the water filter(s) in your kitchen or other rooms in the northeast direction. The first rays of the sun come from this direction which helps the water to get sterilized and purified as they get exposed for your consumption. When there were no filters in the early days, drinking waters were placed in large containers in this direction for the natural filtration process.

Appliances

Like cooking hobs, cooking appliances such as a microwave and more should be placed in the South-East direction to avoid chances of catching fire. Refrigerators should be placed in the South West or North-West directions and so should ovens. Then on the East side or the opposite side of the main cooking area, install the exhaust fan and chimney.

Food Storage

vastu for kitchen

Never keep your food storage boxes or containers above the stove on cabinets or shelves. This is because you may leave the cabinets open when in a hurry which can cause unwanted circumstances such as fire, developing stains from the cooking or creating odours. Choose the sides of the opposite spaces for the placement of the boxes and containers instead.

BONUS Tips

Along with these important tips, also ensure:

Painting the walls white because it helps create a positive vibe as the colour is associated with purity. Moreover, the natural sun rays are soaked up which then reflects in the room and brightens it up.

Choosing pastel shades of blue, pink and green makes the food look attractive and helps you to enjoy your meal well.

We hope that you enjoyed reading the piece and will start incorporating them in your kitchen space. This age-old practice comes with practical concepts, hence allowing you to lead a better and secure life.

The Art of Vastu Shastra – Radiate Positivity in your Living Room

Transforming a house into a home requires a lot of planning as well as the energy to do so. Here, energy not only refers to the physical effort that you and your family will put into but also the energy that is required to create that positive aura. No matter how much you invest in the latest and unique home décor pieces, wall paints or high-end technological equipment, radiating the right kind of energy plays an altogether different and important role. The practice of Vastu Shastra is a traditional belief where each home is said to reflect its own unique energy. This concept is vast and can vary from location to property type. However, you can incorporate some practices for your home from right this moment on.

Introduction to Vastu Shastra

Vastu Shastra is an age-old concept that was and is still practised to bring and maintain positivity in a home or workplace. Earlier, when people built their homes, they ensured to keep the positioning of the different rooms, doors, windows and so on as per the Vastu of the location. This helped bring a positive aura inside while beating the negative vibes for a blessed and happy family.

In this piece from our series “The Art of Vastu Shastra – Radiate Positivity”, we shall help you understand how to maintain the Vastu of your home’s living area. We will assist you in getting an insight into what should the positioning of certain elements should be to ensure radiating positivity around. After all, the living area is where most of the activities with your family or guests are entertained and brings in a lot of different energies around.

  1. North Facing: A living room that faces towards the north or north-east is said to have the most favourable energy flowing in as it is the direction of the sun rising.
  2. Furniture Placement: If you have heavy furniture sets such as cupboards or sofa sets, place them either in the southwest or west direction of the living room.
  3. Electronics: Electronic items such as television sets, music systems and so on should be installed in the south-east section.

While the placements are a huge part of maintaining the positivity of a room, there also are significant things to avoid at all times. Some of these crucial considerations include:

  1. Clutter: Ensure there is no clutter of any kind inside the living area at all times. This starts building a negative aura and can kill all the energies that you have put around.
  2. Well-lit entrance: If your main entrance is in the living room, make it a point to keep it well-lit throughout the day. This helps shed positive vibe around, help you avoid welcome unwanted activities around your home. There are more interesting Vastu tips for your home entrance to learn and incorporate.
  3. No Dustbin: Never put a dustbin next to the entrance or for that matter, even the shoe rack. They denote the signs of bringing in the energies from the world outside, which can include sickness and dirt.

Having your own home or moving into a new one always brings excitement and joy. You start wondering and planning time after time about how you can decorate the different corners of the different rooms. In fact, you may also discard some of those elements that do not amp up the overall style and invest in new ones to create that beautiful aura in your new abode. While you do this, we at Protech Group ensure to make all our properties Vastu complaint about your better and comfortable living.

We hope that you liked this piece of article on how you can create positive energies in your home’s living area. In our next blog from the series “The Art of Vastu Shastra – Radiate Positivity”, we shall give you an insight into what Vastu tips should be incorporated for your kitchen area. Stay tuned!

Water Conservation – The Crucial Practice to Adopt Today

Water Conservation: An Introduction

Water conservation is a great way to understand the use of water proficiently. This is a method that also helps contribute towards a decrease in using excessive water. There are several ways to conserve water and this is a practice being followed for ages. While the advancement of technology has introduced humankind to the modern ways to conserve water, many still prefer the traditional way: rainwater harvesting.

Significance of Water Conservation

We are well aware of the rising and serious concerns about water scarcity in different countries including India. When Chennai in 2019 made it to the international headlines for running out of water completely, the NITI Aayog reported that if strict measures of water conservation aren’t followed, almost 20 other cities including Delhi and Bangalore would run out of groundwater.

Additionally, it has been time and again reported that more than 50% of the Indian population has no access to safe drinking water. Hence, the only way to avoid such a situation is by adopting powerful water conservation methods in both residential and commercial sectors.

Methods of Water Conservation

There are multiple ways of water conservation. While many have adopted the modern ways, some still prefer the traditional ways to conserve water. You too can choose to pick any one of the methods based on availability and convenience.

Rainwater Harvesting

This is a traditional, convenient and one of the most effective ways to conserve water. The process of rainwater harvesting is to collect and conserve natural water in huge tanks, barrels or underground reservoirs. This water collected can then be used for multiple activities such as watering plants, washing utensils and clothes, car wash and many more.

Install Water Meter

Another effective way to avoid water wastage is by installing water meters in the respective properties. Any amount of water being used will be measured and the amount calculated. The higher the volume of water usage, the higher will be the charge.

Valves with Pressure Reduction

With pressure-reducing valves, the amount of water pressure is controlled in the hydraulic system. They help maintain a pre-set water level allowing reduced water consumption and longer-lasting downstream components used in the water system.

Water Recycling

Another effective traditional form of water conservation, water recycling is the process of using wastewater in various areas. This is different from rainwater harvesting as you do not collect the freshwater directly and instead reuse water that has already been used. For instance, the water used for washing vegetables can be used to water the plants.

Other Tips to Conserve Water at Home and Workplace

While the above-mentioned water conservation methods are crucial ways to conserve water, you can also learn some simple daily tips to contribute further:

  1. In your shower, kitchen sink and basins, install water-efficient accessories to reduce water usage.
  2. While brushing, shaving or washing your hands with soap, turn off the water to avoid wastage.
  3. Instead of using running water to clean your vegetables and fruits, soak them for a while in a bowl of water to rinse off later.
  4. Similarly, defrost your frozen food packs in a bowl of water or leave them outside 1-2 hours before you start cooking or eating.
  5. Regularly check the pipes, taps and toilet flushes for leakages. To be aware, add a little food colour into the tank so that if there’s leakage, colour droplets will appear on the floor.

We at Protech understand the importance of water conservation and other significant requirements to save the planet. Hence, we ensure taking careful measures to implement the same in our various residential and commercial properties. Our engineers make it a point to install only high-quality accessories in the kitchens and bathrooms to avoid water leakage as well as inconvenience for you and your family.

We hope that this article proved helpful and that you too would do your part to save water. To read more such informative and interesting articles, do click here

Based on the colour of your walls, you can either pick sets of colourful chairs or go for monochrome tones such as cream and black.

Cozy Plant Vibes

Plants create a lively atmosphere. They can be placed at any corner and space including your desk and shelves to give you a gorgeous-looking office effortlessly. If there’s a lack of space, hang the planters from the ceiling in different corners. You can also choose to select colourful or different patterned planters to set a unique look.

Add Textures and Paintings

The addition of creative pieces sets an all different mood. Wall patterns or paintings come in several shapes and designs including subtle, bold and mixed. You can add art pieces such as a mandala, traditional or contemporary framed art pieces or stunning wall murals. Another option is to get inspiring quotes or positive affirmations framed in different sizes and hanging them on the walls to create a motivated and gorgeous vibe.

Set the Mood with Lights

Apart from the ergonomic furniture and gorgeous pieces of art, lighting also plays a crucial role in acing the commercial interior designing goals. Not only do lights help ace your home décor goals, but also your workspace. While it is significant to choose comfortable lights to not strain the eyes with long hours of work, ensure to invest in options that meet with the rest of your interior design plan. Bring the possibility of setting up work stations next to the window as natural lights play well in productivity as well as a positive-looking atmosphere.
